How much must I withdraw this year?

Your Required Minimum Distribution using the 2025 IRS Uniform Lifetime Table — the number tax software makes you dig for.

Distribution factor (Table III)
Required distribution ($)
RMD as % of balance
Missed-distribution penalty ($)
What is Table III?The IRS Uniform Lifetime Table used by most retirement account owners. The 2025 update (new mortality data) changed every factor — e.g. age 73 is now 26.5 (was 24.7 under the old table), lowering RMDs. This tool uses the current factors.
When do RMDs start?Owner must begin withdrawals by April 1 of the year after reaching age 73 (Secure 2.0 raised it from 72). Each missed year carries a 25% penalty — 10% if corrected promptly.
Why does my factor change yearly?Every birthday you move down the table, so the factor shrinks and the RMD grows even before market gains — distributions accelerate as you age.
Does this include my Roth IRA?No — Roth IRAs have no lifetime RMDs for the original owner. Traditional IRAs, SEP/SIMPLE IRAs, 401(k)s and 403(b)s are subject (with special timing rules for still-working 401(k)s).
